Getting Better
Well, the cold seems to be dissipating, which is nice. I think it was the combo of allergy medicine and two beers last night at the Adrian Belew concert that finally knocked it out of my system. Stupid germs are no match for booze and modern medicine!
Anyway, on Wednesday I managed to finish up scenes 10, 11, and 12 from Mother In-Law Zombie. Also fixed some shots in scene 9 and started up on scene 13. Hopefully I'll be able to finish the color correction on MILZ over the weekend.
I also dug up some production stills and e-mailed them to Kristen for the upcoming Creative Alliance newsletter/schedule. "Livelihood" is showing there sometime in October, so she needed some pictures to go along with the description I sent her a few weeks back. I'm going to try to get some still shots from the actual movie, too, although the quality/resolution of those might not be high enough. We'll see.
Tonight and Sunday night I'll be rehearsing with The Dirty Marmaduke Flute Squad for our July 28th gig at the Mojo Room. I'm really looking forward to that one, and I think I might even be playing one of my original instrumentals at some point during the set, which is cool. On the other hand, I got out of having to play my own set at Hondance, which is nice because now I have more time to prepare for the "Livelihood" teaser screening.

Oh yes, we shall rock the house on Thursday. Nikc came up with a great set. Beavis is sounding good, man.
Didn't cost anything; we got invited to screen there along with Armando Vaille's short film. I think we get 50% of the door. Has to be scheduled quite a bit in advance, though, since their programs are done quarterly.
Damn...
Dude, you have to chill!!!!
Seriously, though, I'm sure there was some misunderstanding involved.
What is it that you're trying to screen there?
I know that the schedule for the next season is already booked up, and has been for at least a month. They probably keep a few slots open for booking acts and travelling shows. So I guess they factor that into their budget.
Did you talk to Kristen about this? Maybe if you try to schedule something now for the Winter program, that would be better. Regardless, I would go straight to Kristen with this, since other people there, who I won't name, aren't quite as kind or understanding.
Either way, $875 seems pretty okay for a screening there, assuming they don't take a cut of the door. I'm not sure what the capacity is, but if 100 people came, you'd only have to charge $8.75 per ticket to make your money back. And I know that place can fit at least 100 people; probably closer to 200. Compare that to The Charles, which charges $1400 for a 250 seat theater, and it starts to seem like a decent deal.

I'll give you $800 if you promise to give me $900 back!
Anyway, I'm assuming that it's a money issue with them. I think Kristen expects the Livelihood screening will sell out (partially because Armando is also bringing a large audience of people), so it's not much risk for them to take 1/2 of the door. And, yeah, I think we're screening on a Wednesday, which usually isn't a big money night for them; they probably take in most of their money on Friday and Saturday.
I'd guess that she's maybe not as sure about the door sales on your screening, so she's asking for money up front so as to not potentially lose out on Friday night ticket sales. She's making a business decision to make you take the risk with the money instead of making the Creative Alliance take that risk.
I dunno. That's the best I can come up with.
As far as The Charles, I think the price is fair for what they're offering, compared to the Creative Alliance. They have a nice big "real" theater, an amazing projector, your name in huge letters on the marquee, and a full concession stand. That's worth the price to me, especially as a nice way to say "Thank You" to the cast and crew.
BTW, Tracey and I would definitely pay $5 each to see the Sevenday movies. That sounds cool.

Ian's comments have been deleted per HIS request.
You mean, how much are they charging? I'm not sure about that. Haven't seen the schedule yet. All I know is that it's going to be the second Wednesday in October.
